March – a review

Your lovely March Styling the Seasons blog posts and photographs have poured in this month – we have loved the colour, nature and joy in so many of your styled surfaces.

I have chosen four favourites from Instagram because of the gorgeous use of nature and the earthy quality to them all; they all feel so natural yet styled so beautifully. I also love how they look as though they are ready to burst into life and colour as soon as Spring is officially here!

My favourite blog post this month has to be Lou’s from Littlegreenshed. I love every single thing about this corner of her newly decorated bedroom – the colours, the basket, flowers, plants. Love, love, love.

There is so much more inspiration to be had from all of the other wonderful blog posts that were styled and written this month and so many new bloggers have joined us this month again, which makes my heart sing:

Bloom and Wild

A bit of floral inspiration for the weekend courtesy of the bloomingly gorgeous Bloom and Wild.

If you follow Charlotte and I on Instagram you will have seen our special announcement this week about our second Styling the Seasons event in partnership with at{mine}. We have eight at{mine} bloggers ready to judge a competition we are running to win a place at the event and the judges’ invites were these beautiful flowers from Bloom and Wild. These cleverly designed letter boxes can be popped through your door so you do not have to be at home to safely receive your flowers – genius.

The other added bonus of these flower boxes is that they are not an arranged bouquet, which never look quite as good once you have unwrapped them and put them in a vase. With these boxes you can faff around with your flowers and split them up into however many vases you wish. Or make a little Easter decoration like I have.

All will be explained about the competition and event next week in our Styling the Seasons posts for April. But if you want to get a head start here’s a tad more info…

Styling the seasons – March

Ok, so I haven’t stuck to the Styling the Seasons rules this month *slaps wrists*. Instead of styling a surface in my home to reflect what the month means to me, I have styled it to reflect what I hope from the month. I love the way everyone interprets the hashtag differently; it means that Charlotte and I never know what to expect and we are surprised each month.

I have used muted colours and have tried to create a soft, soothing atmosphere using only natural light (no photoshopping or brightening!) for this month’s styling. I’ve held back on using any of the colours of Spring until April, as I am hoping this month will pass calmly and kindly. I have based the styling around my new collection of artwork by Rikkianne Van Kirk, that you can buy in my Great.ly shop. I love the simplicity, the interesting characters and the contemplative feel of these illustrations and they tone in perfectly with the beautiful handmade ceramic bowls that my mother-in-law bought me a while ago.

So, what does March mean to you? We can’t wait to see your Styling the Seasons shots – just blog about your styled surface or post a shot of it on any social media platform and use the #stylingtheseasons hashtag and don’t forget to tag me and Charlotte of Lotts and Lots.

Calm, quiet and gentle – here’s hoping.

February – A review

February was an exciting month for Styling the Seasons as we joined forces with the lovely folk over at Laura Ashley. We offered twelve of our regular bloggers the chance to pick their choice of products from the new SS15 collection, as well as a roll of wallpaper each. The challenge was to style their chosen surface with their goodies and they were all so ridiculously creative! You can see what they got up to here and here. A big congrats to Tamsyn and Jessica who got voted as the favourites by the readers of the Laura Ashley blog.

Elsewhere, there were just as lovely styled surfaces popping up on numerous blogs and all over Instagram and it was so difficult to choose my favourite. I love the Spring vibe and bulbs that crept into this month’s styling; so full of hope and colour.

These are a few of my favourite shots from Instagram – I love the understated colours and bright backgrounds with flashes of Spring flowers and nature.

And a few of my favourite blog posts from this month. A moodier and more atmospheric collection but the beautiful bulbs and flowers featured in all three of them add life and light.

I love everything about Alexis’s styled table. The jaw-dropping Astier de Villate china, the gorgoeus galsses from Morocco chosen by her daughter and the beautiful use of the flowers. I just want to know when I am going to be invited for dinner! Check out the full post at Something I Made.

Jane’s beautiful styling reminded me of my love of blue and white and I love the effect of the sumptuous blue background, especially in contrast with the daffodils. See the full post at Tea with Ruby.

Emma’s mantelpiece lined with a row of Snowdrops in terracotta pots is perfection! I love the rusticity of this display in contrast with the delicate, sweet Snowdrops. See the full post at Bradshaw & Sons.

I really hope you have found some inspiration from this month’s Styling the Seasons, I literally can not wait to see what March has in store! And can you believe that we have been styling the seasons for six months?
