I always say that carefully planned lighting can make a room (and bad lighting can definitely break a room – the flat opposite us with just one naked bulb hanging from the ceiling, if you are reading this, pleeeease sort it out!) so when I did my living room makeover earlier this year lighting was a priority. One of the best additions I made to the room is my wall mounted Anglepoise from Houseology. Not only do I love the design but the flexibility of this light makes it invaluable to creating the right atmosphere and it provides task lighting.
In the evenings I can rotate the head of the lamp to make it an uplighter, which gives a lovely soft, even light in this part of the room or I can pull it down if I am reading. At other times I can use it to highlight the shelves above the sofa (see image at top of post). The best thing about this light is you do not need to wire it into the wall and it just plugs in and it’s great for a smaller room as it takes up no floor space or the space a table lamp would.

I love the Anglepoise lamp Katy! So practical, and such a timeless design classic. I really need to start thinking about lighting which is practical as well as pretty.
Lighting is always my priority in a room! I cannot bear a bright ceiling light and that naked bulb would drive me insane. I’d have to knock!!
I would choose the Muuto Leaf Floor Lamp in pink!
Love that lamp! It’s gorgeous
So true about lighting. Lucky enough to have unearthed an original – rather 1970’s looking in all its brownness – Anglepoise earlier this year. The rest of the lighting just needs attention now!

I completely agree, I absolutely love switching the lamps on in the lounge in the evening, particularly in winter. Now we just need to sort out the kitchen, only using the light in the extractor hood is not really sufficient (or good for the eyes)!
I would put the prize towards the Eichholtz Soho Floor Lamp in brass. Love!
So many to choose from, I’d definitely get some of the ball string lights though
I love the Flos mini glo ball!
Ohhhh I couldn’t agree more about the lighting. And that wall mounted anglepoise is just perfect. I’ve been trying to find one for a while as they’re such a timeless classic. I have to say I absolutely love the look of this…would work nicely in either the bedroom or my workspace. I’ve also been crushing over the Tome Dixon pendants!
I love the wall mounted Anglepoise lamp. It’s a great classic design xx
I’m a little obsessed at the moment about finding the right lights so much so that I’ve even made a piece of neon. Love the versatility of this lamp and the traditional angle poise feel. Fingers crossed
I will choose the PR Home Vienna Floor Lamp – Earth Brown. Looks wonderful and will light up my living room.
The Eichholtz Lawson lamp is an incredible design. I love how unique it is and it would look amazing in the ‘new york loft’ style bedroom i’m hoping to create.
I would use it to buy two Garden Trading Cavendish Table Lights in Charcoal for my study.
I would buy this beautiful one:
I would buy the RV Astley Krista Floor Lamp
Lots to choose from – I quite like the Anglepoise Duo Floor Lamp With Red Braided Cable
I would choose the Muuto MHY Pendant Lamp.
Well I guess that if I were lucky enough to win the £150 voucher, it would have to go towards the Eichholtz Sea Explorer Pendant Lamp in Brass!
To carry on with the Captain Nemo scheme that we started in the coal cellar!
I need a 3rd Anglepoise lamp – fingers crossed! x
After living with the terrible mess of a rewire and 5 children just before the summer holidays, a beautiful new houseology light would make me soooo happy x
