Styling the Seasons – February

I’m very excited to give you a sneak peek into my sitting room today (just the teeniest tiniest corner as there is stuff everywhere after a month of DIY weekends as you can see in the behind the scenes pics here). After spending last week painting this room and re-painting the floor it is very nearly ready for a new month with a new colour as Spring slowly but surely approaches.

Farrow & Ball have launched nine new colours today, which is quite an event as it only happens every three years. I was lucky enough to go to the preview of the new colours last month and I immediately fell in love with Peignoir and decided there and then it had to go on my walls. It is the most amazing pink with a big dose of grey and in some lights it is a beautiful blushy pink and in other lights a very dark grey – I love it. As soon as I walk into the room it is like the walls are giving me a great big hug. It is the perfect colour to welcome in longer days and Spring blooms and that’s about all I have managed this month as we are still very much in a state of disarray.

I bought a lovely bunch of simple flowers from the market this weekend – because it wouldn’t be February without a nod to Valentine’s Day and flowers are a must! – and brought them home in this beautiful vintage French basket from La Petite Brocante.

I put the flowers into a big jug and onto the table, mirror still to be hung, radiator still to be painted…

With the sun streaming into the room Peignoir is the softest of pinks but Jules thinks it is dark grey so that gives you some indication of how much the colour changes with the light (and how I managed to convince him to paint our sitting room pink – ha!). It’s a bit magical.

Radiator still needs to be painted – that’s tonight job!

I hope February is full of colour, flowers and ALL the love for you all. Charlotte and I would love to see your February styled surfaces so post a pic on Instagram or blog about it and we can’t wait to see.

Katy x

Those flowers are just stunning! I can only imagine how hard it was to even get that little corner looking beautiful when you are in the midst of so much chaos! We’re going to be starting on our dining room remodel really soon and looking at your other post about all the DIY craziness – dear god, I’m so not looking forward to that!! Ha! But hey, it’s gotta get real ugly before it gets real pretty, right? Best of luck with the rest of the remodel and can’t wait to see it! That wall colour is stunning btw! xxx

That colour is beautiful – so subtle. Does it really look dark grey at times? It’s hard to believe. I love the name Peignoir, too.

What a gorgeously fresh but warm colour. It looks like it’s an excellent neutral to work with. I shall look forward to seeing the full reveal soon!!x

Love it all, Katy. The colour, that mirror (where’s that from – it’s gorgeous!), the flowers and that beautiful traditional old basket. Can’t wait to see the whole room once it’s done. x

    Love that colour!
Update on my project: I went with F&B in the end for most of the house. I chose Farrows Cream for the bedroom, hall and stairs- lush! It even makes make my 20 year old bedroom curtains look better- I am trying to convince myself they are Vintage- well they are Sanderson!
For the living room House white, with Joa’s white above. Then skylight for the dining room with Joa’s white above the picture rail again.
But I am tempted by that peignoir…

I think you’ve done brilliantly to find a calm corner in the midst of decorating chaos! The flowers are perfect for spring and I’m liking the look of that paint colour.

Beautiful photos . Flowers bring calm and beauty to even the most chaotic place. x
I must go and take a look at this Peignor colour, pink and grey at the same time ! Sounds divine x

Oh that does look like a gorgeous pale pink to me but I can fully believe that it takes on a grey look with the changing light. I love Farrow and Ball paint colours and this one would be perfect for my bedroom where I am decorating it scandi style 🙂

Now that’s my kind of pink! Love it. x

Ooooh, looking lush! Curious as to your radiator painting plans. I’ve never done it, because I never know if it will have a neat finish or whether it’s going to stand up to ongoing use. Will be sure to keep my eyes peeled for a future post. Happy February, Katy!

I have to admit that considering the wall colour verges on pink, it’s absolutely stunning! It looks so beautiful and calming. Big remodels can be such a nightmare but the end result will be so, so worth it. Can’t wait to see the whole room 🙂 xo

They look amazing and freshens up the whole place with splashes of spring time colors. I love it darling. I am just working on my own Styling the Seasons as we speak. However, not even close as bright, airy, and clear as your photos it’s been absolutely black skies here for weeks. Nightmare when you dont have many windows to capture indoors. 🙂 But I am working on it as best I can. Sharing my love for wooden crates this month. 🙂

Such pretty flowers! And a very nice new wall colour too. I love Tulips when they start to go a bit blousy!

It looks so beautiful Katy. I get VERY excited when F&B issue new colours. My fave was Cromarty — I’m a sucker for a bluey-grey!
